Beutler Ink + Wikipedia

Beutler Ink supports the mission of Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Foundation to provide free, accessible information to readers globally. As a public relations firm specializing in Wikipedia consulting, we are committed to upholding the highest ethical standards when engaging with the encyclopedia and its community of volunteer editors. Our Wikipedia-first approach ensures that our work contributes meaningfully to the betterment of the world's largest reference work.

Mission critical

We believe in Wikipedia’s core mission to provide a freely accessible sum of human knowledge for the public good. This principle drives everything we do. Our goal is not just to help our clients achieve their objectives, but also to contribute positively to Wikipedia as a public resource.

Ethical collaboration

We adhere to the strict compliance of Wikipedia's conflict of interest rules. We do not directly edit Wikipedia articles, nor do our clients. All updates are proposed to discussion pages for the community to review, approve, and implement. Direct editing is only done when express permission to do so is granted by reviewing editors, following community-approved processes.

Transparency

All of our interactions with the Wikipedia community take place on the platform itself. By maintaining a transparent line of communication, we demonstrate our respect for Wikipedia’s open editing process and ensure that our efforts are fully accountable to the community. All of our conflicts of interest—and those of our clients—are fully disclosed, in accordance with the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use.

Wikipedia first

We will never knowingly seek edits that violate Wikipedia’s content rules. All content we propose must adhere to the following core principles: it must be verifiable in Wikipedia-appropriate reliable sources; it must be written from a neutral point of view; it cannot contain original research; and it must provide an encyclopedic understanding of the topic, avoiding promotional and marketing content. Our work focuses on telling our clients' stories, never undermining their competitors.

Community

We are proud to work with the Wikipedia community, not against it. We understand the value of the volunteer editors who sustain the encyclopedia, and we are mindful of their time and efforts. We strive to avoid placing unnecessary burdens on these volunteers, seeking only legitimate contributions that benefit Wikipedia and its readers. We also seek to collaborate with the Wikipedia community online and at conferences to improve processes and workflows that benefit the movement.

By balancing our commitment to our clients with our dedication to Wikipedia’s core principles, we aim to achieve results that are beneficial to both. We take pride in doing the right thing for our clients while simultaneously improving the world’s largest open knowledge resource.
