Here’s to 2022: The People, Places, and Pop Culture That Defined the Year
What Happened in 2022?
What do Queen Elizabeth, Elon Musk, and Beyonce have in common? We’ll give you a hint—it’s the same thing Wordle, The Bear, and The Las Vegas Aces share.
Give up? They were all news in 2022! How well do you remember the people, places, and pop culture from the past year?
Here’s your chance to find out. With another trip around the sun almost complete, Beutler Ink is back with the latest installment of our annual “Here’s To” series.
Every December Beutler Ink tells the story of the year that was with a single Where's Waldo-style illustration. Each edition features the work of a different guest artist. This year we’ve had the privilege of working with Jillian Goeler, a wildly talented illustrator, who used her expertise with minimalistic shapes and retro lettering to bring this project to vivid life.
Whether 2022 was the first good year since 2015 or just an absolute dumpster fire like every other year, one thing we can all agree on is that a lot of things happened and it can be fun to look back and remember just one more time before banishing it all to the dustbin of history.
How much of 2022 do you (want to) remember?
Visual Communication for fun & profit
As a creative agency, we believe in the power of storytelling. By creating a single densely packed illustration, we’re able to tell the story of the year that was—dozens of stories, in fact. This project invites the audience to look back, showing the people and events that shaped the year.
Some of these events were good, some of these events were bad, and some of them will be controversial for years to come. But this much we can agree on: all of these things happened in 2022. And these days, isn't that something?
This annual project also gives us the chance to partner with and showcase a new guest designer every year. Our motto is “We find your story and help you tell it,” and Here’s To is how we find and tell the story of each year.
Why should it matter to you? First and foremost, because it’s fun! But also because effective communication is critical for every organization, and comes in many forms. This year we told 79 stories in one panel, and next year we’d love to help you tell your story, too.
